Indian Head Massage

Indian Head Massage is part of the Ayurvedic tradition of medicine, the oldest system of healing in India, and can be traced back over 4000 years. It was originally developed as a technique to groom and improve the hair. It is based on the the Ayurvedic holistic principles of promoting health and maintaining a balance of mind, body and spirit.

Indian Head Massage has become adapted to the Western society to assist in combating symptoms of stress and tiredness in our everyday lives, work loads and hectic lifestyles. The massage focuses and works specifically on the head, scalp, face, neck, shoulders, upper arms and upper back to stimulate circulation, boost the lymphatic system and ease muscular tension. The head, shoulders and neck store built up tensions and this treatment helps to unblock these.

The recipient remains fully clothed and sits on a massage chair for the treatment. The practitioner uses a technique of manipulating the soft tissue using a range of different movements, pressures and rhythms, including application of deep kneading and compression movements. In addition, the practitioner will also gently stimulate and stroke pressure points on the face. The session will usually last for about 30 minutes.
